Careers

We are a small firm and we hire rarely. When we do, it is because the work exists rather than because growth is a target.

What we offer

The terms, and the honest version of them

Work you can see the point of

Small firm, real clients, and the person who does the analysis is the person who presents it.

Support towards qualifications

⟦Confirm the firm’s policy on exam support, study leave and professional subscriptions.⟧

A named supervisor

Supervision that means someone is actually responsible for your development, not a line on an org chart.

Flexibility, within reason

⟦Confirm the firm’s hybrid and flexible working position.⟧

Pay reviewed openly

⟦Confirm review cycle. We do not publish salary bands we have not agreed.⟧

The honest part

A small firm means less structure, fewer people to hide behind, and work that occasionally lands on whoever is there. If you want a large graduate programme, this is not it.

How we hire

Four steps, no surprises

01

Application

CV and a short note about a piece of work you found difficult. We read every one.

02

First conversation

A call to establish what you want and whether we have it. Thirty minutes, no test.

03

A real piece of work

A case study close to what the job actually involves, with time to do it properly. We pay for your time on it.

04

Meeting the team

You meet the people you would work with, and you get to ask them things we are not in the room for.

Before you apply

Questions worth having answered

Do I need to be qualified already?

For an advice role, the relevant qualifications and FCA permissions are a requirement — those are set by the regulator rather than by us. For support roles, part-qualified applications are welcome and we would rather hire someone part way through with the right judgement.

What does the work actually involve day to day?

More analysis and writing than most people expect, and more gathering of facts from providers than anyone enjoys. The quality of advice is largely determined by how carefully that groundwork is done.

Is this a sales role?

No, and that matters to how we pay. ⟦Confirm the remuneration structure. If any part of pay is linked to business written, say so plainly here — candidates will ask and should be told.⟧

How quickly do you reply?

Within a week, to everyone. If you have not heard after that, chase us — it means something has slipped, not that you have been rejected.

Can I apply speculatively?

Yes. Use the same form and say what you are looking for. We keep them and we do come back to them.

How to apply

Use the application form — it reaches the people who make the decision directly.

What to send

  • Your CV, as a PDF
  • A short note about a piece of work you are proud of and what made it difficult — not a covering letter template
  • The role title in the subject line, so it reaches the right person

What you send is used only to consider your application. It is not added to a marketing list and is not shared outside the firm. ⟦A candidate privacy notice is required before this page goes live.⟧
